Dark forest fruit & black cherry meet violets, fern, moss, tomato vine, pine and complex oak warmth, with sandalwood, nutmeg, clove and the slightest touch of Madagascar vanilla. Touches of chalk and blueberries as well. On the palate, the silky-smooth Syrah does its thing, with cherry, brambles, blueberries, violets, fennel and dark chocolate bringing memories of a very high quality Syrah from the Northern Rhône. Following that, we're in Saint-Emilion-like territories thanks to Cabernet Sauvignon sophistication, with fine notes of undergrowth, loose soil, pencil shavings, sandalwood and aromatic pine. On the finish, marriaging those two varieties, are hints of black olives and tomato paste - lots & lots (& lots) of Umami - working absolute wonders with the roasted fennel, violets and black pepper notes the Syrah has to offer. Integrated and well-rounded tannins as well as medium acidity give structure and depth to the wedding night. This 2015 should age terrifically well in the next ten years or so, but is extremely drinkable from now. Great, great stuff - a fine example of what not just the Tsililis winery has on offer, but of exceptional Greek wine in general. #greekwine #syrah #cabernetsauvignon
