We should use the situation to finally get things done decisively. Sure, it’s nice to hear the champagne corks popping. But that’s far too isolated. EU investment funds urgently need to be directed into our own foundational technologies, rather than flowing toward predictably high platform costs charged by US providers. Anyone who wants to keep know-how and capital here—and thereby prevent the complete sell-off of former core technologies—must now invest in EU frontier models, EU hyperscalers, and similar capabilities. Continuing to rely on national champions would be fatal in the face of American or Chinese megascale players. Anyone who still assumes that these so-called “market leaders” will once again act in our favor is effectively complicit in the sell-off of European interests. Mirko Ross, Ramsés Gallego
