This week we’ve seen a rise in fear of finance among low-income groups. The exact group who may rely on Buy Now, Pay Later to make purchases less of a pinch. So the announcement of new regulations in this space feels timely! By making BNPL safer for the consumer, it can only be a good thing. Less risk, and less fear of spiralling debt. The tricky bit will come in brand communication. Brands must reassure shoppers – positioning BNPL as transparent, responsible and safe. But there’s a fine balance – go too far on the T&Cs and you risk diluting the temptation element of flexible payments.    We’ll be watching this space to see how brands respond!
