Monzo's socials shout Gen-Z. With phrases like "girl math", "hot girl budgeting" peppered through their posts, it makes money-talk more relatable for younger audiences. A playful tone of voice that echoes the brand values and speaks to their core customers. But the temptation to follow in Monzo's foot-steps might not be the way forward for other providers. More traditional banks not only have a long-established heritage to protect, but are seen through a very different lens - trusted, reliable providers for whom 'Gen-Z' speak would feel jarring.
