Last week, Koda Capital Senior Adviser and Partner Nicky Boustred and Adviser Sarah Sheehan hosted our first Women in Wealth event in Sydney, providing a platform for a practical and insightful conversation on what happens before, during and after a major business sale or introduction of an equity partner. The discussion centred on building business value ahead of a capital raise or sale: what buyers are looking for, what sellers need to watch out for, how to manage expectations through the process, and how best to prepare up to and into the negotiation stage.   We were privileged to hear from Julie Coates, Former CEO of CSR and Director of Wesfarmers and Scentre Group, who shared her experience taking CSR to sale and the lessons learned from the process. We were also joined by our panelists, Holly Stiles, Ghazaleh Lyari and Gaynor Tracey, each bringing a different but complementary perspective to the conversation, creating a balanced, honest and highly practical discussion.   Key takeaways from the discussion: - Own your narrative - how to control the story before, during and after the sale. - Do your research - be informed, be exceptionally well prepared. - Trust your instincts - how to walk away if the deal doesn’t feel right. - Prioritise trust - as you are likely to be working with the buyer long after settlement. - Bring your advisers to the table early - the right team around you is crucial to a successful outcome. - Be across the details - key to countering pushback in negotiations This marks the first of many conversations we’ll be leading under the Women in Wealth segment. Thank you to all our guests and friends of Koda who joined us at the event.   #KodaCapital #WomenInWealth #WealthOnHerTerms #PrivateWealth #OwningTheAfter
