Two WHO-recommended strategies translated into national guidelines in the Philippines!🎉 From June 16 to 18, the KNCV TB Plus led and Unitaid-funded ASCENT DR-TB project held its culminating event in the Philippines through a Project Implementation Review.📃 Throughout its implementation, #ASCENTDRTB worked in close collaboration with the Department of Health (Philippines) – Disease Prevention and Control Bureau (DOH-DPCB) and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM DOH)-National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (RITM-NTRL).🤝 Through this collaborative efforts, a major achievement was the translation of two World Health Organization-recommended strategies into national guidelines: 1️⃣Drug-resistant TB Preventive Treatment (#DRTPT) using 6 months of #levofloxacin for MDR/RR-TB household contacts, and 2️⃣#StoolBased Low-Complexity Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (LC-NAAT) for TB diagnosis among children and young adolescents under 15 years of age. 💪Special thanks to our colleagues at KNCV in the Philippines for all their work! 🔗Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/egthPPyz mamel quelapio | Kezia Lorraine Rosario | Leveriza Coprada, RMT, MPH | Mansa Mbenga | Agnes Gebhard
