Affordable housing is one of Europe’s most pressing challenges. 🌍 Across the continent, demand for housing continues to grow, while rising costs, labour shortages, supply constraints and increasing red tape make it harder to deliver the homes people need. This week, we had the opportunity to contribute to a timely debate on affordable, safe and sustainable housing at the European Parliament, led by Irene Tinagli. Representing Knauf, Christoph Dorn joined policymakers, industry representatives and other stakeholders to discuss how Europe can accelerate housing delivery. As we build more homes, it is essential for us to maintain high standards of safety, sustainability and quality — a point also echoed by Stefan Moser from the European Commission’s Housing Task Force. One message stood out throughout the discussions: ➡️ Housing policy and industrial policy are closely linked. To unlock the full potential of the construction sector, Europe needs the right framework conditions to support investment, industrial capacity and innovation, while enabling housing to be delivered at the scale, speed and affordability the continent needs. As a European manufacturer of construction products and systems, we see every day how the right market incentives can turn ambition into real projects — and how excessive bureaucracy can slow progress. That is why we welcome the ongoing dialogue and collaboration between policymakers and industry on how to create the right conditions to build and renovate more homes, faster and more efficiently. Because building the future starts with creating places people can afford to call home. #BuildOnUs
