🌍 Infrastructure Investments as a Key Driver for the European Recovery Since the passage of the €500 billion special funds in Germany, infrastructure investments have been a hot topic—not only for the public sector and construction companies, but also for investors. At the Zürs 2026 Investor Conference organized by RBI, ODDO/ BHF, I had the opportunity to discuss the current situation and expectations with Gunter Deuber, Marc Caretti, Stefan Kratochwill and Felix Strohbichler . Key Messages 📊 The total investment needed for road and rail infrastructure renovations, as well as investments in energy transition, digitalization, healthcare, and defense, is far higher and is estimated at up to 3.7 trillion EUR. To meet this demand, significant private investments are required in addition to public funding. Against this backdrop, models such as public-private partnerships—which have seen limited use in Austria and Germany recently—are likely to regain importance and simultaneously offer attractive prospects for investors. 🏗️ The investment train isn’t yet rolling at full speed. Which is not a big surprise to us. We’ve always assumed it would take until 2027 for the effects of the 500-billion-euro package to become clearly noticeable. What’s important is that Germany has recognized the need for significant acceleration in planning, procedures, and approvals. With the promotion of so-called IPA models and the Infrastructure Future Act, which gives projects the necessary priority, this is getting on track. And once the investments gain momentum, they will have very positive effects for a long time to come—both for the economy in general and for the output of construction companies like ours. 💶 Investors can also participate on this trend by investing in (listed) construction companies, and direct capital to where it can be used to build the infrastructure needed for the major taks and challenges we face in Europe. As one of the few “full-service providers” in construction and an experienced partner in complex projects, PORR is well-positioned to actively shape and implement this development. #PORRGroup #HomeOfConstruction #PPP #Infrastructure
