[EN/DE] #KITKarlsruhe and the City of Karlsruhe aim to collaborate even more closely to develop solutions for resilient and sustainable cities. Yesterday (May 5, 2026), KIT President Professor Jan S Hesthaven and Karlsruhe Mayor Dr. Frank Mentrup signed a memorandum of understanding to that effect. The focus includes the establishment of joint real-world laboratories, the integration of urban challenges into practical learning formats, and increased data sharing to support evidence-based decision-making. The MoU was signed at “KIT SPARK”—a new KIT research infrastructure located near Karlsruhe’s Kronenplatz, supported by the Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS), the KIT Center for Human and Technology Interaction (MuT), and the Institute for Information Systems. Gestern (5. Mai 2026) unterzeichneten der Präsident des KIT Professor Jan S Hesthaven und der Oberbürgermeister von Karlsruhe Dr. Frank Mentrup ein entsprechendes Memorandum of Understanding.   Im Fokus stehen dabei unter anderem die Realisierung gemeinsamer Reallabore, die Integration städtischer Herausforderungen in praxisnahe Lernformate und ein stärkerer Austausch von Daten zur Unterstützung evidenzbasierter Entscheidungen.   Unterzeichnet wurde das MoU im "KIT SPARK" – einer neuen Forschungsinfrastruktur des KIT unweit des Karlsruher Kronenplatzes, getragen vom Institut für Technikfolgenabschätzung und Systemanalyse (ITAS), dem KIT-Zentrum Mensch und Technik (MuT) und dem Institut für Wirtschaftsinformatik. Ab Sommer 2026 entsteht dort ein Raum für die transdisziplinäre und menschzentrierte Forschung; vom Experiment für die resiliente Stadt von morgen über Reallabore bis hin zu Citizen-Science-Projekten.    📸 Cynthia Ruf, KIT Jan Cermak Daniel Lang Dr. Leonie Hensgen Sandra Mähliß
