Director General at the Finnish Heritage Agency

Museovirasto - Finnish Heritage Agency was pleased to learn about the work and objectives of the ALIPH - International alliance for the protection of heritage Foundation during their visit to Finland. Led by the foundation’s director Valéry Freland we heard about ALIPH’s mission and its importance in protecting cultural heritage in crisis areas, such as currently in Ukraine and Gaza. It was a pleasant visit, although the topic itself was serious. Together we noted that the nature of crises has changed in such a way that cultural heritage is increasingly becoming a primary target, even though international commitments require the protection of cultural heritage also during armed conflicts. In the photo, in addition to myself from the Finnish Heritage Agency, are Director General Elina Anttila, and from the ALIPH Foundation, along with Valery Freland, Harry Tarpey and Clotilde Tachon from the French Embassy.
