A new chapter is underway at the Cayuga Generating Station. We're partnering with Duke Energy Corporation to help deliver two new combined-cycle natural gas units at the existing site, adding 470 megawatts of generating capacity and bringing the station's total capacity to 1,476 megawatts. Once complete, the Cayuga Energy Complex will generate enough electricity to power approximately 1.1 million homes in the Indiana area. Using combined-cycle technology, the plant will capture waste heat normally lost from a natural gas turbine and use it to power a steam turbine, helping extract more energy from the same fuel source. Our team has already wrapped up site development and is well underway with underground construction. The first unit is expected to come online in 2029, with the second following in 2030.
