A major milestone at the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project has been achieved. Crews have completed all roller-compacted concrete on the project, raising the dam 130 vertical feet to a new height of 470 feet, making it the tallest dam in Colorado. Just one vertical foot of structural concrete slabs remains to complete the dam to its final height. As of June 2026, we’ve placed more than 744,000 cubic yards of roller-compacted concrete along with 59,000 cubic yards of conventional concrete facing. Remaining work includes structural concrete elements on the dam crest, spillway and stilling basin, as well as mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and security features. Construction is expected to wrap up in October 2027.
