BMSc (Hons) AFHEA | Senior Medical Student (Y4) at University of Dundee | HCSW at NHS Tayside

🎓 One degree down… one to go! 🎉 Last week, I officially graduated with a First Class Honours in my Intercalated BMSc in Medical Education 👨‍🏫🩺 and I couldn’t be more grateful. Taking a moment to reflect, I’m reminded just how lucky I am to have access to world-class FREE education and support. As someone from an underrepresented background in medicine, the Gateway to Medicine course was a lifeline. Without it, my journey might have looked very different. Fast forward 5 years: I’ve gained a first-class degree, lifelong mentors, and a passion for medicine and education - and I’m now just two years away from qualifying as a doctor. In a time when widening access initiatives face funding pressures, I can only hope institutions do the right thing and continue to protect and invest in these vital programmes. They change lives. They changed mine. And they’re key to building a more diverse, representative, and empathetic healthcare workforce. As for what the future holds with my education degree? Who knows! Maybe Dundee won’t be able to get rid of me that easily 😉😂
