I’m pleased to share that a paper I worked on during my time at FEN Research GmbH has now been published on SSRN. 📄 Viability of Climate Neutral Districts: Integrating “Power to Hydrogen” 🔗 https://lnkd.in/du9Fu6xP This work was developed as part of my research activities at FEN Research GmbH / Green Energy Center Europe, in collaboration with colleagues from the Austrian Energy Agency and the Università degli Studi di Firenze. The paper compares and applies different district-scale energy system modelling tools to assess how power-to-hydrogen can be integrated into urban, rural, and industrial districts. It uses real-world Austrian case studies to evaluate decarbonisation pathways, grid interaction, and sector coupling under different renovation and deployment scenarios. It’s good to see this work now public and contributing to the broader discussion around the renovation and decarbonisation of energy systems. This paper also helped kick off further work that continues through the CETP-REINFORCE project. Thanks to everyone involved at FEN Research and the collaborating institutions who contributed to this work. In particular, I’d like to thank Niusha Shakibi Nia, Nikolaus Fleischhacker, Ernst Fleischhacker, Elisabeth Sibille and Günter Simader for guidance and collaboration on green policy, and the greenification of the energy system. Further thanks to Alessandro Mati, Mattia Pasqui, Andrea Ademollo and Carlo Carcasci for their collaboration and hard work on simulating the energy system using #MESSpy. #research #hydrogen #energysystems #modelling #simulation #climateneutrality
