For a child fleeing conflict, reaching a new country does not always mean reaching safety. At 16, Ayrad* arrived in Poland after a dangerous journey. Alone and unsure who to trust, he had received misleading information about the asylum process that placed him at risk of being returned to danger. A KIND attorney helped ensure Ayrad was recognized as an unaccompanied child, transferred into foster care, and supported as he navigated the asylum process. With accurate information, legal protection, and a trusted adult beside him, Ayrad began to regain stability. Today, he is pursuing vocational training and building toward a safer future.
