KIND is proud to endorse the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act, critical legislation that would ensure unaccompanied children have legal representation in immigration proceedings. No child should be expected to stand before a judge, navigate a complex legal system, and defend their right to safety alone. At a time when unaccompanied children and the legal services they rely on are facing escalating attacks, this bill is more important than ever. It would create a lasting safeguard by helping ensure access to counsel does not disappear with shifting policies, funding decisions, or political pressure. We thank Representative Zoe Lofgren for introducing this vital legislation and for continuing to champion the rights of unaccompanied children.
