Behind every great organization is a board that believes in its mission deeply. At our 2025 GEM Award Dinner, we were honored to welcome Board Vice Chair Patricia Lozano, and Board Members Susan Muenchow, Don Bolce, and Jean-Marie Houston. Together, they reviewed heartfelt peer nominations and selected this year’s 10 Going the Extra Mile winners, staff who went above and beyond for the children and families we serve. Patricia also moved the room with her personal story, from preschool teacher to early childhood advocate at Early Edge California. Her journey is a powerful reminder of why this work matters and who it’s really for: our youngest learners, and the futures we’re helping them build.
