As a kid, I was always fascinated by those tiny 2D games on our old Nokia phones. They seemed simple, yet they had a magic that pulled me in. I often wondered how are these games made? Could I ever create one too? Who knew those pixelated little games would one day inspire something real in my academic life? This semester, life gave me a beautiful chance to turn that innocent curiosity into something real. I worked with my amazing teammates Arham Awan, Nayyar Abbas , and Sajjad Ahmed under the guide Sir Ahmed Akhtar to develop our own 2D puzzle game — Sokoban. At first glance, game looks easy: just push the boxes to the target spots. But once you get into it, by Level 2 and Level 3, it gets so intense and strategic that it personally took me 17-20 tries to crack the strategy for placing boxes without getting stuck. We didn’t just focus on the game mechanics. We paid extra attention to making it visually appealing, adding beautiful color combinations for the main menu and a customizable window — because we believe even simple things deserve to look special. Here’s to the small ideas that turn into big memories. If you’ve ever been hooked on those old-school 2D games, you’ll definitely connect with this.
