After six months of active learning and engagement; including more than 62 sessions on climate aspects and the energy transition, high-level debates on climate justice and energy affordability from a #Global_South perspective, and, most importantly, building lasting relationships with 16 emerging leaders and managers from across the Global South, I am proud to share that I have completed the Yale Emerging Climate Leaders Fellowship and become a "Yale Climate Fellow" for life! As a development practitioner and finance expert, this journey has been both intellectually stimulating and personally challenging, pushing me to deepen my understanding of the climate and energy crises that are hitting our world so unequally. From exploring future #energy_security scenarios for 2050 to designing #people_centered interventions at the community level, this fellowship has offered a truly comprehensive learning experience that elevated my knowledge and perspectives on today’s climate and energy discourse to an entirely new level. And because the fellowship is rooted in bringing forward the voices and perspectives of the Global South, I found myself consistently drawing on the impactful work of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in supporting its 57 member countries on the climate agenda, especially through #MSMEs financing and empowerment. I highlighted how #IsDB stands out as the first multilateral development bank (#MDB) to embody the spirit of “from the South, to the South, and by the South,” driving a paradigm shift in development finance and community support; whether through a small grant supporting smallholder farmers in #Suriname or through a large, well-structured impact fund mobilizing hundreds of millions in #Uzbekistan. I am grateful to Paul Simons for his vision and leadership in establishing the Yale Climate Fellowship, and I extend my sincere thanks to the dedicated team currently running this transformative program, as well as to the broader Yale International Leadership Center and Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs for hosting such impactful fellowships.
