Permanent access is often convenient, but it can also become one of the biggest risks in physical access management. A contractor finishes a job, but their access still works months later. A maintenance technician keeps standing access to a facility they only visit once a year. An old permission remains active because no one remembered to remove it. In each case, the issue is not that access was granted. The issue is that it stayed active longer than it should have. Temporary and Just-in-Time access change that model. Rights are activated when they are needed, limited to the right purpose or location, and removed once the access window ends. This is especially relevant for contractors, inspections, maintenance work, incidents and emergency response. The result is a more controlled access process without relying on manual follow-up every time work is completed.
