INT. PSYCHOLOGIST’S OFFICE – DAY A cozy room bathed in soft, warm light. A young CHILD, 7, sits on a small armchair, clutching a teddy bear. Across from them, a KIND FEMALE PSYCHOLOGIST leans slightly forward, her eyes gentle, her voice calm. PSYCHOLOGIST They say you see angels… can you tell me what your angels look like? CHILD I don’t know. Angels don’t exist. PSYCHOLOGIST But they told me you see them. CHILD I don’t know who they are. The psychologist smiles softly, remembering her own childhood. PSYCHOLOGIST Since you think they must be angels, maybe that’s how they are… Did they ever tell you, “We are angels”? CHILD No… I just thought so. PSYCHOLOGIST I used to see angels when I was a child too. They followed me, protected me… CHILD They don’t talk to me. I just see that they’re very good. PSYCHOLOGIST Good? What do you mean by good? CHILD They smile when something breaks. When a shoelace comes undone, they help children so they don’t fall or get hurt. At school, they follow my friends… I see them. PSYCHOLOGIST You see them… Other children can’t see them? CHILD No, because they don’t care. PSYCHOLOGIST But you care. You want an angel like that? CHILD I want one, but I don’t have it. I’m always alone. When I cross the street, I think… what if a car hits me? Will my angel come and save me? PSYCHOLOGIST You know what? I see your angel. CHILD Really? PSYCHOLOGIST You have the truest angel. The child looks confused, eyes wide. CHILD But I can’t see it? PSYCHOLOGIST (whispering) I’ve seen them since I was your age… real angels, with big shining wings. CHILD My angel has big wings? PSYCHOLOGIST Yes, and it’s always with you, protecting you, proud of you. The child’s eyes start to glimmer with hope. CHILD Proud? PSYCHOLOGIST It says you are careful when crossing the street, you study well because knowledge is light. CHILD I’m going to become a doctor and save many people… PSYCHOLOGIST You have a purpose, while others can’t even tie their shoelaces. CHILD I do everything to grow up quickly. The psychologist smiles warmly. PSYCHOLOGIST Who are you to the child? RELATIVE (off-screen) Aunt. PSYCHOLOGIST Don’t worry. The child isn’t strange… they just need warmth and miss their mother. The aunt carries the mother’s scent. Any woman can be a mother if she has that strong desire. FADE OUT
