Hey folks, it's been a while! March was interesting and busy! Will share more in a separate post. For now, I just wanted to share that I’ll be speaking at the #SkollWF next week in Oxford, at a time when questions of energy, power, and justice feel more urgent than ever. Against the backdrop of renewed instability in the Middle East and rising global energy insecurity, the case for accelerating a just energy transition has never been clearer. But speed alone is not enough. Most of all, we need to ensure this transition will not reproduce existing inequalities, but helps correct them. At Skoll, I’ll be speaking in a panel on "Powering Prosperity at Scale: A Just Green Transition" on 22 April, 2:30-4:00 pm. James Mwangi will bring us into a conversation with Huda Jaffer, Aldo Soto, and John M., at the intersection of climate, development, and community power. We'll be exploring a simple but difficult question: as the green transition accelerates across the Global South, how do we ensure it builds economic power for communities, strengthens self-determination, and governs the use of critical minerals responsibly? For us at Resource Justice Network, this sits at the heart of our work. Beyond technologies and markets, this transition is about who benefits, who decides, and whether new systems are more just than the ones they pretend to replace. Without accountability, participation, and fair distribution of resources, the transition risks becoming another extractive cycle. Many thanks to Skoll Foundation, Marla Blow, and Lindsey Platt Ojok for bringing me back to Oxford and for the opportunity to foster our work! If you're around, Sabrina Vashisht and I would be happy to connect. We have a lot to build together! #PeopleBeforeProfit #SharedProsperity
