AT HOME WITH KENZO: For the KENZO Fall-Winter 2026 Women's and Men's Campaign, Artistic Director NIGO returns to a place central to the brand’s story; La Maison de Kenzo. Hidden in the Bastille neighborhood in Paris, the house was conceived by founder Kenzo Takada as an urban oasis — a space for rest, reflection, creativity, and celebration. Surrounded by bamboo, cherry trees, and a koi pond still inhabited by the carp introduced by Kenzo himself, it serves as the architectural and energetic setting for a campaign that explores the idea of feeling at home, both in a place and in oneself. Photographed and directed by Laura Jane Coulson, the campaign captures American actor Lukita Maxwell, star of hit comedy-drama Shrinking and acclaimed A24 sci-fi psychological horror Backrooms, and American actor, professional skateboarder, and model Nico Hiraga, as they move through the house and its gardens with an easy familiarity. Their interactions unfold through moments of parallel play: reading, wandering, inventing games, sharing space. The campaign recalls a way of engaging with the world shaped by curiosity and imagination, finding entertainment not through technology but through people, objects, and one's immediate surroundings. The house acts as an active participant rather than a backdrop. Long associated with Kenzo's legendary gatherings, creative exchanges, and private moments of retreat, its airy, naturally lit rooms invite an openness to possibility and exploration. Throughout the campaign, Maxwell and Hiraga inhabit a world where cultural references, styles, and attitudes mix naturally. Key pieces include an embroidered organza skirt from the Spring-Summer 1994 archive, reinterpreted for today, with its floral motif extrapolated across new styles, including a menswear jacket worn by Nico. Tri-color stripes sit alongside bold cowboy shirts, two-tone neo-tailoring, classic varsity jackets, and unexpected Chinese 'pankou' detailing. Revisiting archival silhouettes and motifs through a contemporary lens, the collection reflects Nigo's ability to sample and reconstruct references from both the Maison's history and a wider spectrum of cultural codes, creating a wardrobe that moves fluidly between places, traditions, and identities. This playful ease mirrors the defining dialogue at the heart of KENZO; between France and Japan, tradition and reinvention, elegance and humour.
