Today we celebrate National Higher Education Day, which is the perfect opportunity to reflect. Ohio’s 14 public universities, including Kent State, contribute $68.9 billion to the state’s economy and support more than 866,000 jobs. But the data is just part of the story. Higher education’s value is also about what impacts our fellow Ohioans every single day. They’re nurses staffing Ohio hospitals, engineers driving innovation in manufacturing, and teachers shaping the next generation. They’re first-generation students who changed their trajectory.
