Growth is coming to Prince William County. The question is whether we shape it intentionally, or let outdated patterns shape us. In this edition of The Brighter Bridge, I make the case for why infill, redevelopment, and smart growth need to be part of our long-term strategy for affordability, economic resilience, transportation, and environmental stewardship. This is not about saying yes to every development proposal. It is about asking better questions: Can we meet more housing needs in places where infrastructure already exists? Can aging shopping centers, strip malls, office parks, and commercial corridors become stronger, more resilient community assets? Can redevelopment reduce pressure for outward sprawl while supporting local businesses, walkability, and more housing choices? Can we grow in ways that protect quality of life instead of reacting one project at a time? The choice is not growth or no growth. The choice is smart growth or sprawl.
