Making an AI film was on my list of resolutions for 2026. I wrote it down on 1 January, half-expecting it to get snowed under the busyness of daily life. Then BytePlus reached out, and the stars aligned sooner than I expected. House Of Rejected Ideas is a short film about ideas that don't see the light of day. The ones exiled during the client meeting for being too strange, too ambitious, or too expensive. Every creative and marketer I know has a folder (or five), filled with these rejected ideas. And I wondered: What if these ideas ended up bunking together? What would a day in their life look like? Watch on and meet this little band of misfits. From a wider perspective, AI filmmaking has found its footing. Tools like Seedance 2.0 have proven they can generate spectacle. What excites me more is what comes next: Using them to unlock richer and more evocative storytelling, told by characters we actually care about. If you have a folder of rejected ideas – like I do – maybe it's time to reopen it. Thank you for the amazing collaboration, Christopher K., Gordon Liu 刘健文, Jeremy Koh, Adrianus Harris, Eileen Honora, Ibrahim Ismullah, and Ape+Studio!
