This month, the NECTA Form Two results were released, and mathematics stands out as a subject where students performed poorly. In 2024, 81.1% of candidates scored a grade F, compared to 78.9% last year. For years, over 80% of Form Two and Four students in Tanzania have consistently failed #mathematics. What is the root cause of this problem? One major challenge is the poor number sense foundation among students. In this Swahili-English article, I explore how developing number sense can help children foster a love for #mathematics and adopt a more creative approach to the subject.
