Advancing the frontiers of computing requires more than technical expertise. It requires the vision to tackle problems at unprecedented scale. During his time at KAUST, Yuxi Hong (Ph.D., Computer Science, 2023) conducted research at the intersection of mathematics, computer science, and next-generation computing systems. After graduating, he continued his research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory before joining Indiana University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering. Reflecting on his journey, Yuxi credits KAUST with providing the technical foundation, global collaborations, and research independence that helped shape his career. “KAUST gave me the rare freedom to chase ambitious computational problems all the way from clean theory to the world’s most advanced supercomputers. That experience reshaped how I think, write, and lead research.” Today, he is advancing research in high-performance computing and AI while mentoring the next generation of computational scientists. #KAUST #KAUSTAlumni #ComputerScience #ResearchInnovation
