🌿 Current Challenges in Carob Cultivation #Carob cultivation faces several interconnected challenges that threaten its #profitability and #sustainability: - Economic and Labor Pressures - Harvesting-Related Challenges - Structural and Orchard Design Constraints ➡️ What Is Needed to Address These #Challenges? - Improvements in Cultivation and Management Practices - Development of Semi-Mechanical #Harvesting Systems - Optimization of #Ripeness Detection and Harvesting Timing - Orchard #Management and Canopy Structure 📚 Our study, recently published in Agronomy MDPI, addresses some of these issues. 📊 The results show that the efficiency of mechanized harvesting depends on the ability to identify the moment of maximum physiological fragility of the #fruit.
