Walking through #Düsseldorf this week, I was reminded of the kind of leadership that truly stands the test of time. In 1947, amid the ruins of post-war Europe, Britain’s #Reading city’s then-mayor Phoebe Cusden chose empathy over resentment. She sent aid to Düsseldorf and welcomed German children to the UK—a bold, human act in a world still healing. That decision didn’t just offer relief—it planted the seeds of one of the oldest #AngloGermanpartnerships that has been standing strong for more than 75 years now, as it was built not on diplomacy, but on compassion and courage. 75 years after that brave move, #Düsseldorf honoured Ms Cusden’s legacy by naming a street “Readinger Straße” and planning a square in her name—a lasting tribute to the quiet power of an empathetic leadership people value above all. True legacy is built through #empathy. #bminehotels #bminedusseldorf #worldhotels #bwhhotels Matthias Beinlich Philip Großebörger Patrick Rausch
