Every year, half of Sweden’s wool is discarded. Kasthall is proud to be part of The Swedish Wool Initiative, joining 20 partners to change this. Together, we’ve created a Swedish wool classification system, new business models, improved logistics, and a platform for products and prototypes where Swedish wool can replace imported fibers. As part of the initiative, Kasthall has created a rug using reclaimed Swedish wool, demonstrating how industrial craftsmanship and design innovation can give life to this local material. Partners such as Tiger of Sweden and FILIPPA K are also producing fabrics and garments from reclaimed wool, while Swedish Textile develops fully Swedish fabrics with industrial potential. As Rebecca Josefsson Ulvling, CEO of Swedish Textile, says: “For the first time, we’ve used the Swedish wool standard to create fabrics entirely from Swedish wool, with industrial potential. And it works!
