Human trafficking may seem like a distant concept, but it’s happening all around us. Over 27 million vulnerable people across the world are victims. It's heartbreaking, and ending the threat is complicated - which is why I'm so passionate about the ways we can use #AI and tech to combat it. While there’s more trafficking data than ever before, it’s spread out. We need new ways to share and compare information while protecting privacy. As part of Amazon’s human rights and social impact work, we’re supporting the use of AI and technology to innovate solutions. We were a founding member of the Tech Against Trafficking coalition, and work with industry experts, policymakers, NGOs, and other thought leaders to connect the dots across global supply chains. Here are a few things I'm particularly proud of: ✔️Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides millions of dollars in cloud credits to power AI and other tech tools used by nonprofits such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children ✔️Thorn’s “Safer” AI tool, built on AWS, has already detected over 6 million child sexual abuse files ✔️We've trained 18,600+ Amazon Transportation Operations Management associates to spot signs of trafficking through our partnership with TAT (formerly known as Truckers Against Trafficking) ✔️Across Amazon’s operations, employees and partners have completed trafficking awareness more than 150,000 times in the past 5 years. ✔️In 2024, we hosted the third annual Tech Against Trafficking Summit with BSR in London On a personal note, I serve on the Board of StolenYouth - a Seattle-based organization that raises funds to help fight child sex trafficking and connect victims with resources. I see how each partnership, algorithm, machine learning model and innovative platform has the potential to change lives for the better. Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, so it’s a great moment to share solutions. Have an idea about how tech or #AI can help? Drop it in the comments below - I'd love to hear your thoughts. Learn more about Amazon's work here: https://lnkd.in/gt_XUi7H
