Following the authorization to establish the bank granted at the end of November 2024, on 18 November 2025, the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (#KNF) issued an operating license for IBK Bank Polska S.A. to commence banking operations. On Tuesday, 25 November, the Bank officially launched its operations, becoming the first new universal domestic bank licensed on the Polish market since 2008. SK&S acted as legal advisor throughout the entire process of establishing the new bank. The core project team, composed of Jan Pierzgalski (Senior Counsel), Aleksandra Księżak (Associate), Tytus Brzezicki (Associate), and Aleksandra Koryl (Associate), worked with the support and under the supervision of partners Marcin Olechowski and Wojciech Iwański, PhD. Our support covered both the administrative proceedings before the KNF and comprehensive assistance in all areas of preparing the Bank for operation, requiring the involvement of a broad team of specialists—particularly in corporate matters (Piotr Moskała, Ph.D., Magda Kowalczyk, LL.M., Sylwia M.), product matters (Joanna Mróz, dr Przemysław Zysk, Mateusz Blocher Ph.D., Lidia Malinowska, Maciej Juzoń), real estate (Natalia Łabęda, Jakub Potocki), IT contracts (Mikołaj Sowiński, Maciej Gil, Michał Kalinowski), employment law (Agnieszka Fedor, Katarzyna Pikiewicz), tax law (Tomasz Grabka, PhD, Krzysztof Holke), personal data protection (Agata Szeliga, Sylwia Macura-Targosz), and IP (Marek Oleksyn, Mikołaj Stępkowski). KPMG acted as the business and operational advisor. Thank you and congratulations to everyone involved!
