Noted for her beauty, she started a career in cinema, for which her most famous performance was in the 1933 film Extase. Shaken by the outbreak of World War II, Lamarr shifted her focus to inventing and helped create a secure torpedo navigation system. This transmission coding system is still used today for satellite positioning and Wi-Fi technology.
