«Sustainability means innovation means future-proofed business – my #ISPO2025 takeaway» From Sunday until Tuesday, I visited the ISPO Munich and the #SMM (Sport.Marke.Medien) congress by ESB Marketing Netzwerk, together with my great colleagues Ariane Weinbeck, Benno von der Dovenmühle, Maria Zietemann and Theresa Volbert. You can find our shared insights and the recap in the official myclimate post https://lnkd.in/dvXWWarh . On a personal note: I left Munich with mixed feelings. Once again, I have been inspired by what sustainability – or future-proofed, as some now call it 🙂 – truly means. It’s not a compliance issue, an image, or a conscience topic. It’s a booster for innovation and business. As perfect examples, the ISPO Material Lab and Sustainability Hub showcased incredible solutions: ✔ New, nature-based materials ✔ Smarter processes closing loops ✔ Comfort and performance enhancements with reduced footprints That’s what always impressed me about the outdoor industry – the mindset of sustainability is driving creativity and competitiveness. What "doubled down" on my positive impression is seeing that this topic gets more and more traction in the world of sport. That’s the clear takeaway I’m bringing home from SMM. And yes, I feel a bit nostalgic as well: after nearly 50 years, this was the last ISPO Winter in Munich. Since 2003, I have missed 2 or 3 editions, and I keep many fond memories. But I’m already looking forward to the next chapter, the "new" ISPO in Amsterdam in eleven months. What I have seen so far looks promising!
