Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in Covington & Burling LLP's CovInsights First Year Programme. The scheme was an incredible journey of learning and networking, offering profound insights into Covington's practices and ethos. It opened off with an overview of Covington's three-sector focus, regulatory expertise, and emphasis on DEI, beautifully articulated by Jane Pinho. One standout moment for me was the Technology Regulatory Case Study led by Paul Maynard. In a hands-on and participative manner, it shed light on the intricate legal issues that could potentially arise during a data breach, enriching my understanding profoundly. I also found the networking masterclass by Joanna Tudor-Blakeway particularly enlightening, equipping me with valuable skills for future events. Additionally, David Berman's presentation on his route to partnership was a masterclass in strategic thinking, tenacity, ambition, and distinguishing oneself in a competitive arena. His sharing of professional and personal experiences as a lawyer left me inspired and motivated to pursue excellence in my own legal journey. I am thankful for the pleasure of engaging in genuine conversations with amazing individuals like Olivia Scalise, Alex Carn, Tom McGuire, Oliver Hodgkiss, Georgia Ling, Richard Rowlands, Emma Sawatzky, Shóna O., Mark Gillis, Nicola Dwornik, Tamzin Bond, and many more. Moreover, enhancing my presentation skills through a presentation on emerging technologies like AI, and receiving tailored feedback from Paul Maynard and Jessica Fish, was a fruitful learning experience. A heartfelt thank you to Jessica Fish and the entire Legal Recruiting and Professional Development team for organising this insightful and welcoming scheme. Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to give a special mention to my fantastic group mates Bridie Harris, Ryan Junghoon Kang, Sahel Gani, Nell Barrett - Mead, Jieyu Chen for their insightful contributions and camaraderie throughout the programme. I look forward to applying these learnings in my journey ahead!
