Three of India's greatest scientific pioneers C. V. Raman, Vikram Sarabhai, and A. P. J. Abdul Kalam are set to travel to space in a unique tribute aboard Skyroot Aerospace's Vikram-1 rocket. Created by Telangana-based micro artist Ajay Kumar Mattewada, the sculptures are meticulously carved inside the eye of a sewing needle, measuring less than a millimetre and visible only under a microscope. The artwork, which took nearly three years to complete, has successfully passed spaceflight qualification tests and will fly as a symbolic payload on Vikram-1, India's first privately developed orbital rocket. Named after Vikram Sarabhai, the mission represents a major milestone for India's private space sector while honoring the scientists who laid the foundation of the country's scientific and space achievements. Beyond launching satellites, the mission showcases how science, engineering, and art can come together to celebrate India's legacy. The microscopic sculptures serve as a tribute to the pioneers whose contributions continue to inspire the nation's next generation of innovators and space entrepreneurs. Interestingly, the needle doesn't have a scientific function in space. It is a symbolic payload. #Telangana #Artist #Spacetech #Vikram1 #SkyrootAerospace
