▶️ Jury Spotlight: Patrick Metdepenninghen Patrick spent over three decades in finance and real estate — raising capital, structuring companies, and putting transactions together across a range of markets and cycles. Over that period he raised more than €1.5 billion for ventures and deals. He has been an angel investor since 2000, backing founders across Europe with a number of successful exits along the way. He tends to stay involved well beyond the cheque — most of the value, in his experience, comes from the longer-term support rather than the initial decision. Alongside the early-stage work, he invests for his own account using systematic, trend-following strategies. He has been part of the K2MATCH network for several years and recently became its first outside investor — a vote of confidence in the platform as much as in the companies it backs. On the jury, Patrick brings the perspective of someone who has worked both sides of the table: raising money and allocating it. He tends to look past the pitch narrative for the structure underneath — how the business is actually built, how it is financed, and where the real asymmetry sits. He pays at least as much attention to the people: who the founders are, how they fit the problem and each other. In his experience the match between the right people decides more than the model on any slide.
