Making hate lose its mark. ✨ Honoured to see The New York Times take a closer look at §hoplefting and Rights Against the Right – our campaign with Laut gegen Nazis e.V. using trade mark law to challenge far-right merchandise shops at their source of income. Behind the campaign lies detailed, ongoing work: decoding extremist symbols, identifying commercial loopholes, filing trade marks and taking legal action where it matters. The impact so far: 300+ codes identified, 10+ trade marks filed, 2 court cases won – and several awards recognising the power of the idea. 💪 As Simon Knittel, Managing Director JvM START and founder of Rights Against the Right puts it: “The success of Rights Against the Right shows what creativity can achieve when it goes beyond awareness and creates real consequences. Our intention was simple: to turn their own codes against them – and make it harder to profit from hate.” A huge thank you to The New York Times for highlighting the work and the people behind Rights Against the Right. 💚 You can find the full article in the comments below. ⬇️
