Hello Bonjour hi, I’m Julian Thomas, you may know me from your other favourite social platforms such as TikTok! You probably knew this already because I keep running my mouth about it, but last week I got the opportunity to attend my first #CannesLions with a few members of my team at Spin 💅🏾 I’ll get into the facts and figures etc etc BUT first, my biggest takeaway… BE YOURSELF AND PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS Gag of the season, (first time LinkedIn has heard that line) I was NERVOUS to network. I got into my head before and had a little bit of imposter syndrome; it’s the classic overthinking Libra in me. I had questions like “How to introduce myself?”, “What do I talk to people about?” “Do I just ask where the beach is to start a convo?” So what did I do to connect with people? Glad you asked. Obviously, I did what I do best and provided the people with some solid entertainment a.k.a I danced my petite pink shorts off🤠 💃🏾🪩 It helped me break down the barrier that I’d built up in my head, feel comfortable, confident, and remember it’s not that deep. Next thing you know, I’m yapping to everyone in sight. What were the result? Some amazing experiences, connections and friendships with people in multiple industries, as well as a new level of self-confidence (I don’t know if we need the last one but we’re here now).
