𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨—𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠? We build the future behind the scenes. We design frameworks. We challenge existing systems. We develop strategies for industries to implement sustainability, digitalisation, and transformation. And most importantly: We work with people who will carry these ideas into the real world. Since summer 2025, I’ve had the privilege of supervising two international PhD students at Technische Universität Dresden. Why me? Because their research sits exactly where disciplines usually don’t meet and #interdisciplinarity is my USP & passion: ➡️ Technology ➡️ Business & value creation ➡️ Sustainability ➡️ Education And this is where real innovation happens. Together, we are working on: - breaking down silos between industries - developing digital platforms for cross-industry collaboration - enabling #CircularEconomy #CE models - exploring new approaches to sustainable energy/new technology - translating ideas into real transformation This is not theoretical work. This is SYSTEM DESIGN for the future. Today, I had the opportunity to listen and to speak at a conference about one of the biggest challenges we face: 👉 How do we implement sustainability holistically—across industries and universities? The answer is not in isolated solutions. It is in collaboration. Across borders. Across disciplines. Across mindsets. I am incredibly proud of my students and our cooperation with Addis Ababa Science and Technology University. Even though I couldn’t be in Ethiopia today — this North–South collaboration shows what is possible when we truly connect knowledge, cultures & purpose. Because sustainability and the SDGs can only be achieved through a holistic Resource Nexus approach — linking water, energy, food, materials, and people, environmental, social and economic aspects in one integrated system.
