Everyone’s talking about Agentic AI — but a lot of what’s being labeled “agentic” really isn’t. This diagram breaks it down well: ❌ Not Agentic AI * Basic LLM chatbots * RPA workflows with an LLM bolted on * RAG systems that retrieve context and respond These systems react to a single query and stop. ✅ Agentic AI Agentic systems can: * Plan and break down tasks * Use tools autonomously * Maintain memory and feedback loops * Coordinate across multiple specialized agents * Adapt as new information appears The key difference isn’t the model — it’s the architecture. Agentic AI is about orchestration, autonomy, and continuous decision-making, not just better prompts or bigger LLMs. If your system can’t plan, delegate, and iterate on its own, it’s probably not agentic (yet).
