Paul didn’t plan to be in Philippi. He’d been asking God to send him to Asia. The answer was no. So he ended up in a small European village instead — not where he intended, not where he asked to be. And in that unplanned place, he met Lydia of Thyatira. An Asian businesswoman, transplanted to Europe, who became his first European convert, opened her home to him, and set in motion a chain of events that every Christian church today can trace its heritage back to. The detour was the point. I sat at the Baptismal of Lydia with my feet in a brook — a stop I almost dismissed as a tourist trap — and I wept. Because I’d been looking for my big moment at the ruins of Philippi. And it found me somewhere else entirely. Travel does that. It puts you somewhere you didn’t plan to be, and something meets you there. In this week’s podcast and blog, I talk about why some vacations become core memories — and the four things I’ve noticed they almost always have in common. Whether you travel for faith, for family, for adventure, or just because you need to breathe somewhere different for a few days — I think this one will resonate. 🎧 Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gazffVUY 🎬 YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gRF9CV8b 📝 Blog: https://lnkd.in/gYzskacP
