Incoming Cyber & Security Graduate at Barclays | Cyber & Operational Resilience | University of Nottingham

This summer I had the privilege of working in the Cyber and Operational Resilience team at UK Finance , gaining valuable exposure to how the financial sector manages technology, resilience, and national infrastructure risks. I would like to thank my line manager Adam Avards and analyst Rupert Dennis for their guidance and close support throughout the internship. I am also grateful to Laura Catterick, Lori Slack, and India Copley, along with the wider team, for their insights and encouragement. During my time here, I contributed to projects including: 🔵 Drafting a government-facing briefing note for the Joint Committee on the National Security Strategy on the resilience of undersea cable infrastructure. 🔵 Contributing to the second edition of “Minimising the Risks: Quantum Technology and Financial Services”, highlighting emerging quantum threats and mitigation strategies. 🔵 Supporting UK Finance’s engagement with the Home Office ransomware legislation consultation, analysing implications for the financial services sector. 🔵 Researching financial market infrastructure substitution options (e.g. Pay.UK Form3 XP PoC, IBM Industry Stand-In Bank, Bank of Finland backups, and MiniCREST), mapping scope, timelines, and risks to inform industry discussions. This experience has deepened my interest in pursuing a career at the intersection of finance, risk, and technology, and I look forward to applying these insights in my final year at university and beyond.
