I was at the gym today when I noticed a woman approaching a piece of equipment. Most people would mind their own business. I am not most people. The moment she reached for it, my leadership instincts kicked in. I stepped in with a thorough safety briefing: proper grip, body positioning, movement patterns, and the most common mistakes. When I finished, I expected at least a nod of appreciation. Surely she was thankful for my help. (I even offered to help her stretch!) Instead, she looked at me like I was insane and said: "I know how to use a jump rope, but thanks for mansplaining.” Which is exactly the kind of attitude people have right before they use a jump rope perfectly and make me look foolish for trying to save lives. Some people simply refuse to be helped. #Leadership #Mentorship #SafetyFirst #Mansplaining #ProfessionalDevelopment #PublicService #Satire ──────────── Josh Rouleau | Mayor of LinkedIn Righting wrongs by writing wrong.
