Dave Roberts and Derek Fisher. #coaches #mentors In 1992, at UCLA, Dave Roberts slid into second base and injured “Woody,” LMU 2b Chris Intelkofer. As Chris struggled to get up, Dave was rolling around as well but he was fine. Dave would go onto a World Stage, while Chris career was over. His life as a Vince Vaughn “look a like”has taken off however..haha. When we saw Dave this night in 2020, we reminded him that his son Cole(a freshman infielder at LMU)was in our Pride now, #community, and that we are from a time when we saw how short life really is—#44 Hank the Bank Gathers was a main topic of conversation wearing my 🩸 red. Dave gets it. Whether it be life as an athlete or life in general we need to appreciate each passing day. Our greatest Hope was that he would treat life with more vigor than any day prior after talking with each of us. #marchforth. He knows how. As for D Fish, we connected right away when I asked him, “you are a lefty, right?” He saw my 🩸and got it quickly. He knew immediately that I was collecting lefties.
