👉 Dear colleagues. I would like to share our recently published article "Micropropagation of five endemic, rare and/or endangered Narcissus species from the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal)" in Acta Biologica Cracoviensia - Series Botanica. In this work we present a successful in vitro culture approach for bulb scales multiplication, rooting and ex vitro transference of five Narcissus species with economical and conservationist interests. We expect that this contribution could be useful for these species ex situ conservation and sustainable production in the horticultural sector. In addition, given the interests of daffodils in the galanthamine- and lycorine-related alkaloids pharmacological research, we hope our results will help for the establishment of alkaloid biofactories based in plant cell and tissue culture under in vitro conditions.
