The "Bridge the Care Gap" theme for World Parkinson’s Day hits home, even outside the Parkinson’s community. Working on my PhD in FOXP1 syndrome, I see firsthand how difficult it is to move from "clinical excellence" to actual independence at home. In rare disease research, the gap between a lab discovery and a family’s daily life is often huge. We can develop the best therapies in the world, but they only truly work if they are accessible, personalized, and integrated into a patient’s home routine. Bridging this gap means: Using interdisciplinary expertise to treat the person, not just the symptoms. Making sure the transition from the clinic to the living room doesn't stall progress. Recognizing that "personalized care" is a necessity, especially when dealing with complex genetic conditions. Whether it is Parkinson’s or FOXP1, the goal is the same: making sure scientific progress leads to a better, more independent life for patients and their families. #WorldParkinsonsDay #FOXP1 #RareDisease #Neurorehabilitation #BridgeTheCareGap #Neurology #PreclinicalResearch #PatientCare
