๐ Most people arenโt thinking about ๐ฃ = ๐ก๐ฃ? at 5 AMโฆ but I kind of am. I'm ecstatic to share that this summer, Iโm working part-time as a ๐ช๐ฒ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ผ๐บ ๐๐๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ at the Anteater Recreation Center (ARC) at ๐จ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ! Itโs a hands-on role: re-racking weights, folding towels, sanitizing machines, and making sure the gym stays safe and welcoming, all before sunrise โ๏ธ. As a Computer Science major, Iโve started to see gym operations as a giant real-world algorithm: ๐ Re-stacking plates? Thatโs just Tower of Hanoi, recursive edition. ๐ Checking every machine efficiently? ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐บ, reduced from Hamiltonian Path (shoutout to Prof. Schindler's ๐๐ฆ ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฎ). ย ๐ฆ Organizing weights? Classic ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐. ย โณ Minimizing rerack downtime? ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ฑ๐๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด, with some ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ heuristics. ย ๐ค And yes, Iโm diving into some serious ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด this summerโฆ just not the kind that uses Python. Iโm literally learning how every machine in the gym works. ๐๏ธ Along the way, Iโll also be tracking ๐ช๐ฒ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐๐ & ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ daily. Though this time, itโs literal plates and how unevenly people rerack them. Soโฆ ๐ฃ = ๐ก๐ฃ? Not sure yet. But if someone finds a way to prove it while optimizing towel folding and squat rack rotations, I might be the first to know. ๐ช๐ง Huge thanks to my friends, family, and mentors for all your support.
