Another military skill I’m realizing translates directly into project management is cross-functional collaboration — especially when teams are spread out. At Ramstein, I was coordinating with 30+ US and NATO maintenance supervisors across 22 different units, often in countries. Everyone had their own priorities, their own chain of command, and their own challenges, but we had to stay aligned to keep aircraft mission-ready. That meant listening carefully, finding common ground, and keeping everyone working toward the same goal even when things got complicated. It was basically advanced stakeholder management before I ever knew the term. Whether it was coalition partners, different squadrons, or support teams, success only happened when we could actually work together instead of in silos. I’m excited to bring that same experience of aligning diverse groups into civilian project management. Fellow vets and PMs: Have you had to manage collaboration across different teams or departments? What’s one thing that helped make it successful? #VeteranTransition #ProjectManagement #StakeholderManagement #MilitaryToCivilian #Leadership
